In order to examine the areas of joint cooperation, The Ambassador of Slovenia visited the Faculty of Biological Sciences and Technologies

Igor Jokic, the Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia to Iran, visited the Faculty of Biological Sciences and Technologies of Shahid Beheshti University.

According to the office of the international scientific cooperation; Igor Jokic, the ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia and Maya Yerman, the third secretary of the embassy; On Sunday 28th of January 2024, while visited the Faculty of Biological Sciences and Technologies. He met and talked with Dr. Mohammad Reza Bigdali, the Dean of the Faculty and some members of the faculty and visited the laboratories.

In a meeting held for this purpose,Dr. Bigdali, the Dean of the Faculty of Biological Sciences and Technologies, listed the advantages, capacities, scientific and research achievements of the faculty in his report.

In the continuation of the meeting, emphasizing the necessity of developing international scientific cooperation between Shahid Beheshti University and Slovenian universities regarding the exchange of professors and students; creating the proper situation for attracting postdoctoral researchers; Providing short-term courses; holding scientific-research courses online; Joint and dual courses, joint guidance; establishing supporting mechanisms and granting scholarships to students from the two countries; sending of faculty members for study opportunities, research missions, as well as the holding of international conferences and meetings were discussed.

In the following, Igor Jokic, the ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia, gave explanations about the main universities of Slovenia and their conditions and expressed his desire to develop scientific-research cooperation.

Then, Dr. Ahmadreza Mehrabian, Associate Professor of the Faculty of Biological Sciences and Technology, explained scientific achievements in the field of bee products, including the production of medicinal-therapeutic honey and the plant origin of this technical

In the second part of his stay at the Faculty of Biological Sciences, the Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia visited some laboratories for measuring the quality and determining the medicinal properties of honey. During their visit, Dr. Minaei explained about inventing new methods for determining the quality and measuring the amount of medicinal compounds of honey for the first time in the world in this laboratory, and the guests also visited a collection of honeys from all over the country in the laboratory. Dr. Talebi also mentioned the statistics of patients cured by the identified honeys.

At the end, one of the best quality honeys in Iran was presented to the guests.
