Event on the Occasion of Global Media and Information Literacy (MIL) Week Hosted by the UNESCO Chair for human Rights, Peace and Democracy, Shahid Beheshti University
The tenth annual global celebration of Global Media and Information Literacy (MIL) Week, initiated in 2012, is taking place from 24 to 31 October 2020, under the theme “Resisting Disinfodemic: Media and Information Literacy for everyone and, by everyone”. Under the initiative taken by the UNESCO, the UNESCO Chair for human Rights, Peace and Democracy, hosted by Shahid Beheshti University, Tehran, Iran, has organized an online event titled “Resisting Medical Disinformation during Pandemics from the Human Rights Perspective” to be held on 29th October 2020 on the online forum of the Shahid Beheshti University: http://sbu.ac.ir/webinar. The speakers at the event are: Dr. Leila Naseri, faculty member of the Academic Center for Education, Culture, and Research (ACECR) of the Medical Sciences Branch of Shahid Beheshti University, Governmental Expert of UNCAC and Chairwoman of the Research Committee of the Iranian Medical Law Scientific Association, with the theme “Realizing the Right to Receive Accurate and Timely Information during Pandemics: Challenges and Solutions ”and Dr. Asli Abbasi, human rights researcher and assistant of International Relations Dept. of the UNESCO Chair for Human Rights, Peace and Democracy at Shahid Beheshti University, with the theme “Media and Information Literacy for Women and Girls: An Undeniable Necessity in Times of Pandemics”.
The event by the UNESCO Chair for Human Rights, Peace and Democracy at Shahid Beheshti University is listed among the global events for the celebration of the MIL week on the official website of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO):
