A delegation of Iraqi women visited Shahid Beheshti University on Wednesday, November 5th, to get acquainted with the university’s scientific-research achievements in the field of women’s and family rights issues. According to the International Scientific Cooperation Department of Shahid Beheshti University, the delegation, accompanied by Dr. Karimian, Director of International Scientific Cooperation, and Dr. Ghalamboran, Head of the Department for Admission and Guidance of Non-Iranian Students from the Faculty of Education and Psychology, Family Research Institute and the Chair of Human Rights, Peace and They visited Democracy and talked to the officials of the mentioned centers.
The 11th meeting of the heads, deputies and international directors of universities, higher education centers, research and technology of the country was held in the presence of the president of the university and the director of international scientific cooperation.
According to the management of international scientific cooperation of Shahid Beheshti University, in this meeting, which was held from 8:30 to 13:00 on October 27, 2020 in four general sections, Dr. Nasiri Gheidari, President of Shahid Beheshti University, in the first part of the meeting with the topic ” The performance of international scientific cooperation in the Corona era “, presented a report on the activities of Shahid Beheshti University in five general categories as follows:
• Measures taken to promote the international status of the university;
• Measures taken to address international challenges and barriers;
• Outlines of actions related to the national authority of Shahid Beheshti University in international scientific cooperation with Russia and Kazakhstan;
• Redefining research needs during the Covid 19 era;
• Effective and continuous communication with the Ministry of Education regarding the promotion of the international status of the university.
Following the meeting, Dr. Gholami, Minister of Science, Research and Technology, said: “A strong presence in the international arena shows the capabilities of the country’s higher education system.” He pointed out that in recent years we have had good activities in the field of development of international relations and this issue should be considered as an asset, he said: The development of higher education at the international level shows the ability of the country’s scientific collections and in Current situation Due to the prevalence of coronavirus in the world, for all countries, a leap forward and a transition from the present to the present time has occurred that each country has benefited from this leap according to its coordinates.
The Minister of Science, Research and Technology, in the end, stated that if we have the necessary measures for the international development of higher education, valuable achievements will be achieved, noting that the equipment and activities in the current situation must be provided and the necessary rules and regulations with Recommendations to help university centers to be further coordinated and the necessary permits to be followed up and obtained.
After the speech of the high official of the Ministry, the meeting continued in three other sections entitled “Attracting International Students and Elites in the Corona”, “Joint Research Projects in the Corona” and “Iran-China Cooperation”. In addition to presenting reports from universities and research institutes , Dr. Siddighi; Deputy Minister and Head of Student Affairs Organization, Dr. Rahimi; Deputy Minister of Research and Technology of the Ministry of Education and Dr. Salar Amoli; The Deputy Minister for International Affairs also addressed relevant issues.
According to the International Scientific Cooperation Department of Shahid Beheshti University, in the latest ranking of the best universities in the world “US News”, Shahid Beheshti University was ranked 16th among the universities of the Ministry of Science and the Ministry of Health.

Event on the Occasion of Global Media and Information Literacy (MIL) Week Hosted by the UNESCO Chair for human Rights, Peace and Democracy, Shahid Beheshti University
The tenth annual global celebration of Global Media and Information Literacy (MIL) Week, initiated in 2012, is taking place from 24 to 31 October 2020, under the theme “Resisting Disinfodemic: Media and Information Literacy for everyone and, by everyone”. Under the initiative taken by the UNESCO, the UNESCO Chair for human Rights, Peace and Democracy, hosted by Shahid Beheshti University, Tehran, Iran, has organized an online event titled “Resisting Medical Disinformation during Pandemics from the Human Rights Perspective” to be held on 29th October 2020 on the online forum of the Shahid Beheshti University: http://sbu.ac.ir/webinar. According to Shahid Beheshti University International Scientific Cooperation Management, a meeting was held with the presence of Dr. Sharif Kashani, International Vice President, Dr. Qanati, Director of Education and Research, and Dr. Okhovatian, Director of Accreditation and Ranking of Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences, as well as Dr. Farsi, Student Vice Chancellor, Dr. Karimian, Director of International Scientific Cooperation, Ms. Amidi, Head of Consular Office and Dr. Nezamzadeh, Deputy Director of International Scientific Cooperation of Shahid Beheshti University, was held on Saturday, October 3, 2020 at the International Vice Chancellor of Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences.
In this meeting, which was also attended by some officials and experts of the Student Vice Chancellor and the International Vice Chancellor of Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences, it was emphasized on the expansion of cooperation between the two universities based on good neighborliness. According to International Scientific Collaborations Directorate of Shahid Beheshti University (SBU), in the following of successful first call of MSRT-TUBITAK joint research projects (2019), both sides agreed to announce second call with new list of topics and with cooperation with National Institute for Medical Research Development (NIMAD) as representative of Health and Biomedical Science.This program will be supported within the scope of Cooperation Agreement between the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK) and Iranian Ministry of Science, Research and Technology (MSRT).
Scientists in Iran who want to propose a joint research project must agree with the researcher(s) working in the research institutions in Turkey whom they will carry out the project together as “project partners”.

The Memorandum of Understanding between Shahid Beheshti University and the ECI Cultural Institute was signed on Tuesday, 8 September 2020.
According to the International Scientific Cooperation Directorate, Dr. Nasiri Gheidari, President of Shahid Beheshti University, met Dr. Sarvar Bakhti, President of the ECI Cultural Institute (ECI) and the accompanying delegation. During the meeting, a memorandum of understanding was signed to expand joint cooperation. The above memorandum has been prepared by the International Scientific Cooperation Directorate of the university.
The meeting was organized by the Director of International Scientific Cooperation. Ms. Mirbagheri, Director of International Relations at ECO, Ms. Nazari, Representative of Afghanistan at ECO, Mr. Shah Mansour Shahmirza, Tajik expert at ECO, and Dr. Nosratzadegan, Director of ECO. Accompanied by Dr. Sarvar Bakhti. Dr. Rasouli, Advisor to the President and Director of the Department of Public Relations, Dr. Khatami, Head of the Faculty of Literature and Humanities, Dr. Saeedi, Head of the Faculty of Theology, Dr. Ahmadvand, Vice Chancellor for Research of the faculty of Theology, and Dr. Karimian, International Scientific Cooperation Directorate of the university attended the meeting.
Dr. Nasiri, President of Shahid Beheshti University while welcoming the audience, indicate to the nationality and homeland of Dr. Sarwar Bakhti, President of ECO Cultural Institute, , said: Tajikistan is respected by us both in terms of common culture and language and as a friend and neighbor, and we are eager for mutual communication and interaction.
Referring to the cultural and historical ties between the Persian-speaking countries, he said: “The division of the languages of Tajikistan, Iran and Afghanistan into three languages, Tajik, Persian and Dari, is a matter of fact. The fact is that the source of all this is the same.” Mother tongue should not be neglected; Iran, Tajikistan and Afghanistan are one of the main areas of the great Aryan civilization. I hope that we will be able to carry out joint activities in line with the tasks of the ECO Institute, especially in the field of universities. A common language binds countries together like a strong string. By introducing a common heritage to the world and carrying out joint scientific and research activities, we can add to the growth and richness of the glorious Iranian civilization.
Referring to the memorandum of understanding, Dr. Nasiri stated: “Considering the mission of the ECO Cultural Institute in protecting the rich and common cultural heritage of the member countries of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECI) and the importance and necessity of facilitating and strengthening the interactions of regional Scholars in the field of culture and Civilization and its role in the development of cultural, artistic, media, academic and research interactions between the countries of the ECO region. This memorandum with the focus on the culture and civilization of the ECO region will be signed between Shahid Beheshti University and the ECO organization; a steering committee will be formed to implement this memorandum and future plans.
Dr. Sarvar Bakhti, President of ECO Cultural Institute while expressing his satisfaction with attending Shahid Beheshti University, he said: “Ten countries are members of ECO, all of which have common ties; one of the main tasks of this organization is to commemorate this precious heritage, to expand cooperation and strengthen ties between the people of these ten countries.
The head of ECO Cultural Institute considered the important position of Shahid Beheshti University at the national and international level and said: “Shahid Beheshti University is one of the prestigious universities in the region and the presence and activity of students of this scientific center in important departments and areas shows the credibility of this university”. Some citizens of ECO countries have also studied at Shahid Beheshti University and are currently working in important positions; it is an honor for us to work with such a prestigious university. Dr. Bakhti added: “ECO Cultural Institute is about 25 years old and the main tasks and goals of this organization are through holding cultural and scientific ceremonies and events by providing a suitable space to seek interaction between artists, cultural figures, scholars and intelligentsia of member countries.” It is an echo. The President of ECO Cultural Institute announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with Shahid Beheshti University and emphasized: The signing of a document and Memorandum of Understanding between Shahid Beheshti University and ECO Cultural Organization will be the beginning of extensive and valuable cooperation and a new step to expand cooperation. Dr. Bakhti, proposing to hold Persian language courses for diplomats working in Iran in cooperation with Shahid Beheshti University, added: “Holding this training course is very important and I hope that by implementing and operationalizing it, we can take an important step to introduce and develop Persian language.”
He added: Persian language has been and will be one of the languages of civilization. Examining the entire written heritage that remains in the 10 ECO member countries, we will see that many of these valuable works are in Persian or Arabic, we should cherish this language and provide its growth and development.
Dr. Rasouli, Advisor to the President of the University and Director of the Department of Public Relations, emphasized on the expansion of scientific cooperation and said: Shahid Beheshti University is one of the largest universities in the country and at the same time an international university and has hosted personalities and representatives of important countries. It has been all over the world. The main approach of Shahid Beheshti University is to establish, expand and promote international cooperation, especially with the countries of the region. Therefore, joint cooperation with the ECO Cultural Institute, as an important institution in the region, is important in forming regional communications and interactions.
Dr. Rasouli announced the readiness to expand the activities, pointed to the strengths and capacities of Shahid Beheshti University and considered the long-standing cultural and historical commonalities between Iran and Tajikistan as an important opportunity for the development of bilateral cooperation.
At the end of the meeting, a memorandum of understanding was signed by Dr. Nasiri, President of Shahid Beheshti University, and Dr. Sarvar Bakhti, President of the ECO Cultural Institute.
The governor of Saratov, Russia, recently sent an official letter requesting the cooperation of the universities of the mentioned province with the Iranian universities. Therefore, Shahid Beheshti University, as the head of the National Working Group on International Scientific Cooperation with Russia, while informing about the issues raised, declares its readiness to facilitate communication between the universities that are members of the Russian Working Group and the universities of Saratov province.

Dr. Gharvayan, Science and Technology Park Vice present of Shahid Beheshti University, met Dr. Karimian, Director of the International Scientific Cooperation Office, on Monday,8 September 2020, at the International Scientific Cooperation Directorate Office.
In this meeting, which was also attended by Dr. Fartash, a member of the faculty of the Research Institute for Fundamental Studies of Science and Technology, and the Vice President and Experts of International Scientific Cooperation Management, a brief report on the outlines of international activities carried out by this management was presented. Then, explanations were provided about IASP (International Association of Science Parks and Areas of Innovation) and ASPA (Asian Science Park Association) and the challenges of expanding cooperation with these two international institutions were examined.
Dr. Gharavian and Dr. Fartash, while announcing their views on the importance of establishing technology companies in the University Science and Technology Park, emphasized the expansion of communication between the park complex and the management of international scientific cooperation. Dr. Karimian, referring to the potential of Shahid Beheshti University in effective international communication, said that this management is ready to use all available capacities to achieve this goal.
The results of the Times 2021 international ranking were announced and the position of Shahid Beheshti University was rise by 100 steps.
According to the results of the International Times ranking in 2021, Shahid Beheshti University was ranked 601-800 compared to 2020, with 100 ascents.
In the 2021 Times ranking, 21 Islamic countries were present, of which the Islamic Republic of Iran had the largest number of universities with 47 universities.
In the Times 2021 rankings, 1,527 of the world’s top universities are ranked from 93 countries, with Oxford University ranked first for the fifth year in a row, and Stanford and Harvard University ranked second and third, respectively. California University of Technology, MIT and the University of Cambridge (UK), California Berkeley, Yale, Princeton and Chicago are ranked 4th to 10th in the world, respectively.
