Sardis Rasul Ghamzatov, a Russian Muslim poet, was unveiled

During a ceremony, Sardis Rasul Ghamzatov (Hamzeov), the national poet of the Muslim Republic of Dagestan, Russia, was unveiled in the Faculty of Literature and Humanities of Shahid Beheshti University in the presence of the President of the State University of Dagestan and the Scientific Counselor of the Russian Embassy in Iran.

This seminar was attended by Dr. Seyyed Mahmoudreza Aghamiri, President of Shahid Beheshti University; Dr. Mortaz Ali Rabadanov, President of Dagestan State University and Igor Demkin, Scientific Counselor of the Russian Embassy in Iran, were unveiled.

After the unveiling of Sardis, a joint meeting was held in Nasser Khosrow Hall of the Faculty of Literature with the presence of guests and faculty members of the Faculty of Literature and Humanities. At the beginning of this meeting, Dr. Abtahi, vice president of the university and director of international scientific cooperation, gave a brief description of the poet’s biography with a welcome speech.

Dr. Aghamiri, the president of the university, in his speech introducing the university, pointed out the good reputation of Shahid Beheshti University at the world level in the fields of education, research and technology. He emphasized the necessity of strengthening cultural relations between the two nations, especially the Republic of Dagestan, and added: Administrative, diplomatic and political relations are vulnerable in the world, but cultural relations are stable. We borrow from the lofty spirit of poets in order to expand cultural relations between people and nations.

In the following, Dr. Mortaz Ali Rabadanov, President of the National University of Dagestan, expressed his satisfaction at the presence of Shahid Beheshti University and considering the history of Dagestan University and the development of international relations within the framework of the International Forum of Caspian Sea Universities and holding the 25th General Assembly of Caspian Sea Universities. In Dagestan University, Khazar expressed his desire to expand relations with Iran, especially with Shahid Beheshti University.

While stressing the activity of the Iranology Center at the University of Dagestan with a history of more than 20 years and the many commonalities between the people of Iran and the Republic of Dagestan, as well as the installation of Sardis Hafez at the University of Dagestan, for joint cooperation with the Russian Language Department of Shahid Beheshti University, as well as the establishment of the Russian Language Center, Professor and student exchange, scientific, research and educational cooperation announced readiness.

Then Mrs. Salehat Ghamzatov, the daughter of Rasul Ghamzatov, poet of Dagestan, thanked her for organizing the ceremony and emphasized the commonalities and cultural closeness of the people of Iran and Dagestan. He presented Rasul Ghamzatov’s photo collection to the president of Shahid Beheshti University.

Later, Mohammad Salehi, a graduate of Shahid Beheshti University’s architecture department, presented his painting inspired by this poet’s poems to the son of this Dagestan poet.

 In another part of this meeting, Ehsan Sepehr explained about Rasul Ghamzatov’s animation project. Dr. Afarakhte, another speaker of this meeting, gave detailed explanations about the cultural activities of Iranians in Dagestan.

 Later, a group of Russian school students read poems of this Muslim poet to the audience.

 At the end, a memorandum of understanding was signed in the field of joint scientific cooperation between Shahid Beheshti University and Dagestan National University.

It should be mentioned that the year 2023, coinciding with the 100th anniversary of Ghamzatov’s birth, has been named as “The Year of the Messenger of Ghamzatov” by Vladimir Putin.

In this ceremony, Alimurad Hajiov, research assistant and member of the Young Elites Council of the Russian Presidency, Dr. Nouri Mohammadzadeh, Associate Professor of the Department of Oriental Studies and Head of the Iranian Studies Center of Dagestan State University, Dr. Murad Akhmadov, Editor-in-Chief of the Literary Journal of the Republic of Dagestan, and Researcher of the Rasul Ghamzatov Literary Museum In Makhachkala, Ms. Salehat Ghamzatov, daughter of Rasul Ghamzatov, director of the Ghamzatov Art Museum of Dagestan and head of the Rasul Ghamzatov Interregional Fund for the Support of Culture, Dr. Vaezi, the head of the Faculty of Literature and Humanities, Dr. Anani, the research assistant of the faculty, and Dr. Sheikhi, the director of the Russian language department of the Faculty of Literature and Humanities were present.
